How to reach out to a supervisor
Reaching out to a supervisor may seem intimidating. Because you'll be starting a relationship that that can last for years, it's important that your supervisor is a good fit. Here are some tips to use to help find the best supervisor for you:
Introduce yourself. Let your prospective supervisor know that you found their profile on BACSbook and that you are interested in having a conversation about working with them.
Send your prospective supervisor your resume with your initial e-mail.
Let your prospective supervisor know your interests and what you plan on doing with your social work license. This will help them to determine if they'll be able to guide you in your career path.
Be open and honest about your schedule and the amount of time you'll be able to commit to supervision.
Remember, virtual supervision is currently allowed, and a request for it could be made in the future. This greatly opens up the number of supervisors from whom you can choose.
